Latest Custom Netting Enclosure Nets

Over the years Gourock.com has supplied many, many different customized nylon netting enclosures for customers that each have unique needs and usage applications.  Ranging from private residential installations to high-capacity commercial and professional facilities, netting enclosures are highly functional for a very wide spectrum of users and purposes.  One of the most popular applications for nylon netting enclosures are for athletics and sports training.  When people have a need to contain and impact objects within a specific area, enclosing the entire area with netting is a very nice solution.  Some common examples are baseball batting cage nets, golf cage nets, and sports facility training areas.  But over the years Gourock has provided netting enclosures for very unique needs including zoo and aviary purposes, soccer facilities, and lacrosse/hockey impact cages.  Based on the objects that need to be blocked, the correct mesh size can be quoted for the production.  And then based on the expected level of abrasion and over all wear-and-tear the correct twine thickness can be recommended for the final product.

Gourock uses the highest quality materials and craftsmanship for the customized nets and netting enclosures that ship out to our customers.  The nylon netting is constructed from the top-quality DuPont® Type 66-728 Twisted-Knotted Nylon, and all of the custom fabrications are hand-built in Washington State.  Everything is 100% American-Made when sourcing custom nylon netting productions from Gourock.com.  Most any combination of dimensions can be supplied, so if you have a specific requirement for your installation just use our contact page to provide the context of your intentions and the sizing that you're aiming for.  For some additional information and background on the different examples of productions that Gourock has supplied in the past you should look through some of the articles written in this blog, as well as check out this page of our site.

Over the last couple of weeks we have facilitated the design, production, and shipment of a number of custom netting enclosures.  Here are three examples that demonstrate some of the different twine thicknesses, mesh sizes, and sizing/production features for these particular customers:

Basketball Barrier Net With Poles

The Home Barrier Netting System that is available at Gourock.com is a really functional solution for people that need to block/contain balls and objects within different areas of their property.  Consisting of a dependable ground anchor and steel pole installation, with netting panels clipped to steel attachment points, there are hundreds of potential applications for the Home Barrier Poles.  For some really good context on the materials and components, check out this page of the Gourock site (click here), and also this previously written article (click here) that helps demonstrate the assembly of the poles themselves.

Some very popular applications for this combination of netting and poles include barrier set-ups for baseball & softball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse & hockey, volleyball, golf, and many other multipurpose uses.  Generally speaking, if you are a person that is looking for a solid netting installation system that is an alternative to a permanently-installed post/cable/footing approach - then the Home Barrier Netting System is a really good option to consider.

A recent customer in Texas contacted us seeking information on how he could utilize the Home Barrier Poles and some nylon netting panels in a way that would fit his unique requirements.  Basically, he has a very nice basketball hoop setup on the edge of his driveway - but the way that the property dropped-away behind the hoop was causing all kinds of inconvenient situations with missed shots and basketballs rolling away from their practice area.  In addition to the annoyance of consistently chasing and retrieving basketballs that were rolling away, the lawn area behind the driveway was being destroyed and ripped-up from the excess wear-and-tear from the increased foot traffic on it.  He tried out a couple of potential solutions, which were a small "catch net" that was sourced from a department store - along with layering some burlap material over the worn lawn, however neither accomplished what they needed to.

Here is the photo of the basketball hoop area with generic-net and burlap covering that was forwarded to us while we discussed the matter on the phone:

Using and installing the Home Barrier Poles along with some custom-sized nylon netting panels was the approach used to get things solved for this customer.  The primary characteristics that needed to be considered were that the property grade was quite uneven from one side to the other, and that he wanted to get a fairly wide coverage area for the netting while keeping the overall setup pretty "minimal" as well.  But these things were no problem at all to facilitate.  The way that a solution was packaged for him included:

  • different height poles installed to match the grade as closely as possible, which were a collection of 8' poles and a 10' pole where the property dropped lower.
  • different dimension custom nylon nets that would help alleviate the effect of the slope/height differences, while still getting barrier coverage all the way to the ground.
  • breaking-up the barrier/containment area into two separate pole/netting areas which would allow him to make the fit and installation adjustments to the left and right sides independently - and to his own preferences.
  • using the #21 X 1-3/4" square mesh knotted DuPont® nylon netting, with 5/16" Dacron® rope bordering, for optimal longterm outdoor use for many years.
A couple of days ago he had forwarded over the back and front views of his initial installation of the materials, and he reported back great success achieving his goals.  He opted to source a package of the netting installation bungee-balls that we have available so that he could make a few more netting attachments and installation adjustments - but other than that he was able to get rid of the generic 'catch net' that was on there and should start seeing his worn lawn recover nicely!  Here are the images sent over to us, and hopefully they help you out with a bit more context for some of the barrier netting solutions that you can source through Gourock:

Baseball Field Backstop Netting

The supply of custom nets for baseball and softball field backstop installations is a very common occurrence here at Gourock.com.  Many different types of fields and stadiums require containment and barrier netting to keep balls from entering the stands, bleachers, or from flying into the surrounding parking lots or concession areas.  We have facilitated the design, production, and shipments of dozens (possibly hundreds) of custom netting panels for this exact application.  Whether you are souring netting solutions for a professional organization, community group, commercial facility, or a scholastic/municipal installation - chances are we have already successfully assisted a similar type of job in the past and can easily help you out with getting your upcoming project completed.

Generally speaking, the 1-3/4" mesh size netting is what you have installed for baseball and softball barrier applications.  We supply the highest quality and most dependable netting material in this mesh size, which is the DuPont® Type 66-728 Twisted-Knotted Nylon Netting.  This netting selection has a very high abrasion resistance and tensile strength, and an excellent expectation of durability against the harsh effects of UV and the elements.  Featuring a latex/urethane bonding, UV stabilization, and black coloring - you can depend on the knotted nylon netting products supplied by Gourock.com.

One of the very convenient aspects of getting your backstop netting panels from Gourock is that you can order to any dimensions required for the job, and also spec most shapes/tapers as well.  The recommended approach is to go for 5/16" Dacron® rope bordering sewn-in around the perimeter of each netting panel for maximum strength over the years, and usually the diamond mesh pattern will allow the production team to calculate the proper netting fit for your particular area.  The most popular twine thicknesses for baseball and softball containment nets are the #21 (241 lb./twine, 2.0mm) and the #36 (381 lb./twine, 2.5mm) - but we also have some options that are both thinner and thicker if you prefer.  Whatever you're aiming for just use our contact page to inquire and we'll get back to you with a quotation and suggestion.

Here is the most recent production from last week for a baseball club field in California that is completing a backstop installation.  Here are some of the features of this production for your reference, and images of the details follow:
  • #21 X 1-3/4" (241 lb./twine) black twisted-knotted nylon netting
  • diamond mesh pattern
  • 5/16" rope bordered on all edges
  • vertical rope riblines sewn-in for required installation attachments
  • additional horizontal rope ribline sewn-in for required installation attachments
  • custom tapered/angled shape for the upper netting (top net)
